Shrink-Rapt

SMALL TIME HITS the big time in The Incredible Shrinking Character (Cyberdreams), a new CD-ROM written by Austin mystery novelist Jesse Sublett and designed by Go Go Studios of Austin. In this spoof of fifties B-movies, you play a private eye who’s been hired to find a girl kidnapped by a mad scientist—but when you come to the rescue, he shrinks you down to half an inch tall and pits you against evil cats and killer cockroaches. Look for it before Christmas. . . . Fresh from creating the World Wide Web site for Diet Coke’s joint promotion with the hit TV show Friends, Dallas’ Big Hand Productions is finishing up its collaboration with Dallas software firm Raw Graphics on The Quigmans Clip Art, a CD-ROM portfolio of the work of Dallas illustrator Buddy Hickerson. You can peruse old panels of The Quigmans (his eleven-year-old syndicated cartoon), copy three hundred Hickerson doodles into your documents, and watch video snippets of the artist commenting on his work (“A lot of my old girlfriends want copies of the cartoons that I do about them—but that’s mostly for legal purposes”). The disc will be out later this year.
