Bush Push

They’re big, by George.

NOW IT’S REALLY EASY TO READ HIS LIPS Houston sculptor David Adickes is creating twenty-foot-tall busts of George Bush and the forty other U.S. presidents for a patriotic theme park he hopes to open this year in Virginia.

AW, HE’S JUST BEATING AROUND THE BUSH At a National Governors’ Association seminar in Delaware in November, Florida governor-elect Jeb Bush told Minnesota governor-elect Jesse Ventura that his brother George W. claimed to be able to whip the former professional wrestler. “I haven’t met a Texican yet that can shame me,” Ventura said.

READ MY QUIPS At a roast for former White House press secretary Marlin Fitzwater, George Bush called his ex-spokesman a “rotund snowball” and “hippo hips,” and copied Johnny Carson’s “Carnac the Magnificent” routine of deducing questions after being given the answer. (Fitzwater: “The answer is ‘voodoo.’ Bush: ”What do you find under your pet voo?“)

DOONESBURY ME NOT Cartoonist Garry Trudeau satirized George W. Bush’s reluctance to run for president.
The print version shows a Doonesbury cartoon strip by Garry Trudeau. This strip is not available on the web.
