The Houstonian’s Chocolate-Almond Sweetheart Cake Chocolate may or may not be an aphrodisiac, but this voluptuous heart-shaped cake from the Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa in Houston all but comes with a seduction guarantee. In the hands of executive chef Jim Mills, the dessert is no bit of Valentine puffery but a rich and substantial creation along the lines of a European torte, in which finely ground almonds substitute for flour and fluffy egg whites stand in for baking powder. The finishing touch is a crown of ripe, red raspberries. Whip the sweet up on February 14 and send an unmistakable message to the lucky recipient: Be mine. Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, 111 N.
