Royers' Round Top Cafe: A Relational Odyssey

Royers' Round Top Cafe: A Relational Odyssey by Bud and Karen Royer, published by Favorite Recipes Press

THE AUTHORS OF THIS COOKBOOK, who happen to be the owners of the legendary Royer's Round Top Cafe, are quick to point out that this book is not all about recipes, but about relationships. We learn that Bud and Karen Royer took on a great challenge when they bought the cafe and Bud made the move to Round Top on May 16, 1987 (Karen and the kids followed later). We also find that country life and city life are quite different, and to be happy, you have to build on relationships. The stories of the Royers' relationships with employees, patrons, friends, and family are dotted throughout this cookbook. And mixed in are the recipes for the good old-fashioned dishes that Royer's Round Top Cafe is famous for. Here's a sampling of what you will find:

Chunky Chicken Salad
Bud's Grilled Quail
The Best Country-Fried Chicken
Buttermilk Pie
Chicken Tetrazzini
Giblet Gravy
Best Pumpkin Pie Ever!!
