**Aurora
It’s easy to feel special dining amid the lovely appointments of this small, elegant place, where both the customer and the food gets loving attention, right down to the exquisite bread with English goat’s-milk butter.
*Abacus
Tre Wilcox may be gone, but devoted fans still hold this elegant restaurant in high regard. Check out the bar, which opens an hour earlier than the restaurant.
*Fearing’s
Kudos to always luxe but friendly Fearing’s for landing the tip-top spot on Zagat’s list of the best hotel restaurants in the country. Attentive service is frequently topped off with a table-side appearance by chef Dean.

Although chef Chris Ward’s creativity has a definite American tone, we love his dishes with a Mexican twist.

Dalí’s surreal art comes to mind when glancing around this fine restaurant; we especially love the antler chandelier. And if your heart has cockles, the poblano-Asiago soup with golden tomato foam will surely warm them.

We’re elated that chef-owner Sharon Hage has reinstated lunch, and even though it’s served only on Wednesdays, we’ll take it. If a meal can be a work of art, you’ll find it here.
