Notable Openings and Closings

What you need to know about dining in Texas this week.

FEBRUARY 7–FEBRUARY 13, 2012

AUSTIN

Closing: McCormick & Schmick’s, 401 Congress.
This national chain proved to be a fish out of water in downtown. The location at the Domain will remain open. For more information, go to mccormickandschmicks.com.

Dallas

Opening February 7: The Mason Bar, 2701 Guillot.
Brandt Wood, the brains (along with his brother, Brady) behind Dallas’s now-defunct Jeroboam and Green Room (both ultra hip back in the day), is betting that Uptown is in need of a cool bar (in a historic building) that also happens to serve bites from chef David Anthony Temple. For more information, go to themasonbar.com.

HOUSTON

Opening February 11: LaFisheria, 4705 Inker.
Mexican celebrity chef Aquiles Chávez—he's like Tony Bourdain and even has a show similar to No Reservations—makes his first foray into the states. For more information, go to lafisheriahouston.com.
