PLAY DATES Looking forward to the lazy days of summer, when hours meander and agendas consist of sipping lemonade beside a cool body of water while soaking up the sun’s bronzing rays? Sure, that sounds nice—until boredom sets in. For a change of pace, head to the Dallas area June 6-8 for a slew of worthwhile events to keep you and your family hopping. On Friday thou shalt seek merriment amongst the fair maidens and good sirs at the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas. The annual outdoor fest will delight you with a rousing rendition of Taming of the Shrew. Saturday couldn’t be more kid-friendly if it tried. In the morning, head to the Dallas Zoo to celebrate the arrival of the summer season with music and crafts at the sixth annual Summer Fun Weekend. In the afternoon, check out the Pepsi KidAround at the Annette Strauss Artist Square, where puppeteers, storytellers, and the world’s largest sandbox are the featured attractions. Begin your Sunday at the Dallas World Aquarium as it observes World Ocean Day with artwork, conservation-conscious activities, and crafts such as making jellyfish from paper plates. Later in the day, set your sights on the opening of “Renoir and Algeria” at the Dallas Museum of Art. After all this fun, pour yourself a tall glass of lemonade. You deserve it. (See Dallas.)
