DON’T STOP BELIEVING Usually everyone is so busy trying to avoid the crowds during the holidays that we forget to sit back and enjoy the season. This time around, we invite you to embrace the clichés—see the lights, drink eggnog, listen to “Jingle Bells” over and over again. And one of the best places to revel in the frenzy is San Antonio, especially on the weekend of December 12-14. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better light show than the thousands of luminarias that line the River Walk during the Fiesta de las Luminarias. On Saturday, set aside an hour or two for the Bazar Sábado at the San Antonio Museum of Art, where you can buy Latin American holiday decorations and trinkets, then shop till you drop at the Guadalupe Theater’s Hecho a Mano craft market, where you can pick up a few of those last-minute gifts (or your first ones, if you are a procrastinator). On Sunday, head to the River Walk, eat an early dinner at Biga on the Banks or Boudro’s, and hear some familiar songs during the Holiday Boat Caroling. Shoot, even kiss your sweetie under a sprig of mistletoe. Just don’t be a stick in the mud. (See San Antonio.)
