We’re not sure if more strange things necessarily happen in Lufkin than in other small towns, but the person behind the Lufkin Daily News police blotter has a great appreciation for the absurd. (Learn more about Lufkin Daily News crime reporter Jessica Cooley here.) 

The crime in Lufkin ranges from the very mundane to the very bizarre, and nearly each day the blotter contains a new gem. We’ve compiled our favorites from October below:

October 31
A woman reported that she believes someone took her wallet and keys out of her purse and then moved her vehicle from one parking space to another.

October 31
A man reported finding roller blades on his property.

October 25
A woman called the police to report being assaulted Wednesday evening. Once on scene, officers discovered the woman had not been assaulted. They believe she was actually too intoxicated to stand up and fell down in her driveway.

October 23
A Dragonball Z collection was reportedly stolen Monday from an unlocked home.

October 22
Flower bed bricks were reportedly moved and a woman’s wind chime was stolen Sunday at her home.

October 19
Collectible knives and coins were reported stolen from a building broken into.

October 17
A Lufkin man was arrested Tuesday morning after stealing a Samsung tablet from a McDonalds customer and then severely biting a Good Samaritan who tried to stop him. The man took the tablet off a customer’s table when they got up to refill their drink, according to a Lufkin Police lieutenant. He was then chased down by several witnesses who managed to tackle and fight him in to custody but not before he bit one of them on the chest.

October 4
Two deer stands were reportedly stolen from Walmart Wednesday by a white male.
