ALL SO OLD-WORLD, the menu is a sort of compendium of the Mediterranean’s greatest hits. Even a standby like Shrimp Scampi, sauteed in a tangy garlic lemon butter sauce, comes off with flair. The delicate phyllo basket stuffed with steamed spinach, mushrooms, crab, and shrimp on a bed of tomato coulis is a pretty presentation that tastes as good as it looks. Mediterranean salad—chilled hearts of palm and artichoke, roasted peppers, walnuts, and crumbled fresh goat cheese on crisp baby field greens—invigorates with its tart balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Chef Victor Garcia has achieved the blissful balance between moderation and virtuosity—his confident and surprising renditions of old favorites make for that rarity—a satisfying dining experience.
