posted in education [more from this topic] anonymously on Friday, October 30th at 5:20 PM.

November 20 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.

Birds communicate with friends, foes, and family in many different and unusual ways. Explore some of the ways birds "talk" to each other through songs, calls, and displays at our class on November 20. These classes have been developed and will be taught exclusively for home school students. Each class will begin with 30-45 minutes of instructional time, followed by a 45 to 55 minute nature walk. Our program will provide learning in an outdoor classroom (weather permitting), a guided nature walk, and a hands-on activity.

There are two registration options for scheduling a home school program: Individual or Private Group. INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION Sign up your child(ren) for one of our upcoming fall programs -see topics and dates below. Class size: Minimum students - 8; Maximum students – 20. Cost: Members - $15 per student; Non-members - $25 per student. NOTE: $10/person per class for parents and siblings 4 yrs. and under that attend class. Our Home School Program Policy Handbook is available at houstonarboretum.org under the home-school program children’s education programs section. Ten years later, as the university continues to wrestle with the tragedy—and debate whether Bonfire should ever return to campus—the students and alumni who chopped logs, hauled timber, and built stack talk about what they saw, what they lost, and how their school was changed forever.

But now that the last child’s case has been settled and all the kids are back home, a question still lingers: What really happened on the Yearning for Zion Ranch?

The 50 Greatest Hamburgers In Texas

A gastro-scientific inquiry into the finest burgers in the state that invented the burger, including the Toro (#4), the Stodg (#6), the Miss Hattie (#28), and, in our top slot, a miracle of meat served only on Sundays. No wonder they call it the Lord’s day.

Across The Line

According to the district attorney in Smith County, this building was the site of the most horrific child sex ring in Texas history. Three of the adults convicted of running it have already been sentenced to life in prison. There’s just one problem: The DA in neighboring Wood County, where the building is located, says nothing happened here at all.
