– Somebody’s mad at Texas barbecue:

 

– The Houston BBQ Festival is this Sunday, and Craig Hlavaty visited one of the barbecue joints that has appeared every year, Corkscrew BBQ.

– The pastrami short rib is making an impact at a couple barbecue joints in the Houston area.

– Read up on the upcoming Foodways Texas Barbecue Summer Camp:

 

Bumbershoot Barbecue opened yesterday (evenings only) outside of Denton, and the early report is promising.

Hickory House Bar-B-Que in Denison gets the spotlight in this week’s Herald Democrat.

– The Statesman lists some of their favorite barbecue joints in Williamson County.

– USA Today sings the praises of Austin’s La Barbecue, especially the beef ribs.

– Texas BBQ took over Ft. Worth Food & Wine for an evening:

 

– Jason Sudeikis and Stephen Colbert share plates of their hometown barbecue (Kansas City and South Carolina, respectively) in this clip from The Late Show.

– In an unnecessary gesture, Austin mayor Steven Adler responded to the “controversy” over a Southern Living reader survey disguised as a “best of” barbecue list.

– Actor Armie Hammer helps Brad Robinson of Freedmen’s in Austin grill some steaks in this sometimes painful to watch yet instructive video.

– Aaron Franklin and others to judge a brisket competition in NYC:

 

– The Smoking Ho took a trip to Rome and found some Texas style barbecue at Smoke Ring.

– The champions of this weekend’s Hogs For the Cause event in New Orleans have been announced.

The Big Smoke, a festival devoted to ribs, is coming to London later this month, and will feature Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller Barbecue.

– A visual menu for Mighty Quinn’s BBQ in NYC:

 

MOPAC BBQ is the latest Texas style barbecue joint to open in the Tampa, Florida area.

– A new rub company in Brownsville, TXQ Rubs, develops each rub recipe with a different Texas city in mind, and names them with the corresponding area code.

– Instrinsic Smokehouse in Garland produced a video (turn the camera horizontal, fellas) highlighting their tofu burnt ends (April Fools!) that didn’t look all that bad.
