Flash! News from the Perry campaign

A COMMUNICATION FROM THE PERRY CAMPAIGN TO THEIR SUPPORTERS

Subject: PERRY COMMITS BEYOND SOUTH CAROLINA!!!  We’re in for the long haul, folks!

Perry supporters nationwide!

Our ranks have grown and money is being raised from individual donors at a breakneck pace. You are ALL A MAJOR PART of that.

In case you didn’t hear already through social media, RICK PERRY HAS COMMITTED TO STAYING IN THE RACE. In an article hosted by the National Journal, Governor Perry discussed the Marine/Taliban story, but added that no matter what, he intends to compete in Florida at the end of the month!

In the face of adversity, media distortion, Fox News blackouts and bundlers trying to force him out, Governor Perry has seen something in the grassroots support the last 10 days that has lifted his spirits and energized his campaign. Something big has begun brewing and we are all a factor in that.

We have not gotten as many updates from you, our members as we need to keep accurate records and be sure you’re getting credit. Ron Paul supporters put most campaigns to shame with their viral, almost epidemic-like money bomb campaigns that spread through social media. WE DEPEND ON YOU to get the word out and help us recruit those willing to give $75, $50, $25, even $10 to help move ads on South Carolina television and radio.

We thank you for your support so far and wish to recognize the efforts of Morgan McComb – TX, Angela Toft – CA and Brenda Baggins – TX for the remarkable recruiting efforts. Together, we’ve raised over $3,000 of the $15,000 pledged this cycle. Let’s help Governor Perry by thanking him for his committment to staying beyond South Carolina with an investment into his campaign!

I received the above email from a friend connected with the Perry campaign. I’m baffled. Does anyone really believe this:
Our ranks have grown and money is being raised from individual donors at a breakneck pace.

or this:
Something big has begun brewing and we are all a factor in that.
or this:
WE DEPEND ON YOU to get the word out and help us recruit those willing to give $75, $50, $25, even $10 to help move ads on South Carolina television and radio.

Now they are trying to raise money for television and radio spots in increments of $75, $50, $25, and $10. How much time does $10 buy on the radio? Twenty seconds? None of this makes any sense to me. Perry is still at 6% in South Carolina. He is going to finish last again. If he goes on to Florida, he will finish last there. What is the compulsion that drives him to hang on?

This is really strange. The Perry campaign has nowhere to go. It is on life support. Who is supposed to believe that they are in for the long haul? I guess it depends upon how long long is.

The Aggie just can’t give it up. Meanwhile he continues to embarass all Texans with his outrageous rhetoric. Bringing up Danny Pearl was a new low.

Paul, Rick & Anita Perry are feeling pretty much abandoned at this point. The religious right abandoned them long before Iowa.

Many other folks who *were* supporting them – and I use the word them as in the Rick & Anita Perry Oops campaign – have long moved on to other candidates.

Eric the Red, the groupiest of all Rick Perry groupies, just told him in no uncertain terms to get out of the race:
    http://www.redstate.com/erick/2012/01/18/rick-perrys-final-act-king-maker/

Roger Simon, another hardcore Perry lover, wrote a mea culpa on Perry last week.

John Stemberger, another early Perry supporter, with the Florida religious whackos, is now with Santorum.

Nikki Haley who WAS going to be their bulwark in South Carolina … endorsed Romney on the day the Glen Maxey book came out. Hello….

So Rick and Anita are feeling pretty lonely right now. Still floating in the ionesphere high on presidential delusions. There are no key supporters to tell THEM to get out of the race … because there is only a tiny pocket of supporters left.

The decision NOT to run in 2014 was probably made a long time ago. Rick & Anita have already been humiliated beyond belief, so there is nothing to LOSE by staying in the race, or *pretending* to stay in the race.

South Carolina was going to be the last stand for Rick Perry. And after he gets his 5% of the vote on Saturday, I think Perry quits the race at 8PM Central time on January 21, 2012.

He knows he is on track to get demolished in the Texas GOP primary and that is just not acceptable.

He’s unlikely to get a second wind at this point, but did anybody really expect Newt Gingrich to come back in SC and give Romney a run for his money there? Perry must be counting on luck to break his way and have Santorum drop out and Gingrich re-self destruct. The way this primary has turned out so far, that’s totally possible.

As has been stated on this blog before, the other candidates would be wise to foot the bill to keep Prick Perry in the race so that the debates will maintain their designated loser. I am still shocked he stated he’d take us back to Iraq knowing he was going into a state (SC)chock full of military families who have endured one deployment after another after another since 2001.

Newt is surging in SC so the dems trot out ABC to do a hit piece on him.
How many of you swallowed the MSM’s lie about Romney winning both Iowa and NH?
Romney won’t be the republican nominee, and Rick Perry is still in the race.
Its going to take more than a liberal leaning media and a slew of lawsuits from democrats to corrupt the republican primary.

I miss Molly Ivins. She would be having a field day with the Guber. The Perry campaign was so implausible from the beginning, comedy can be its only purpose. Anita is not looking too happy these days.

I wrote the email, and as a small group of grassroots supporters who has seen individual contributions skyrocket after Iowa, there IS steam in the campaign. He’s the only candidate stuffing rally’s beyond capacity, and he’s the only one driving you all nuts by not dropping out. Of his poll numbers are low, then it’s fascinating people are still showing up to hear him speak. Why is that? He’s a charismatic, exciting speaker.

SN: As an avid Perry detractor, the author of is blog is entitled to provide their point of view. But including the names in the email was utterly inappropriate, BURKA. please remove them.

I am not associated directly with the campaign either, and whoever sent you that email should have made it clear we are an I affiliated, but enusiastic network of 1,600 people on Facebook and through email.

I’m flattered, however that our internal communications made it to the FAMOUS Burka blog!

Keep up the excellent scoop work! Journalism isn’t dead!

Thank you, Rick Perry for not towing the media meme and quitting just because the media turned against you. The debates are enjoyable, the principles haven’t changed. And the record still remains the best of any candidate.

We look forward to fighting till the end

Have you ever been to a high school track meet, and in the girls two-mile race, there is always that girl who gets lapped a couple of times, walks two of the four laps, and holds up the track meet while everyone waits for her to finish? But, with a crowd full of people, when she hits the final 50 yards, she starts an all out sprint, passes out at the finish line (15 minutes later than everyone else) and gets cheered by the fans. (Some for her courage, and some so we can get on with the meet). Well, that girl in last place is Perry in this race. He is playing the “not a quitter” card. But, I don’t think the fans are going to be cheering him all the way to the finish line like they do the girl…

correction to my story above, a 2 mile race is actually 8 laps, so the girl walks 6 of them…

The mocking by Burka has reduced Perry to a blubbering mess. He admits defeat and after his staff cleans him up, will endorse the Newt at 11. Maybe there is some hope for a Perry/Biden debate.

Rick Perry will not be anyones VP pick. He is polarizing and ineffective. He would be a drag to any campaign, and with Texas firmly in the “R” column, why take him? At some point clear heads in the GOP will see that Santorum and Gingrich are unelectable much like Rick. Big question is: Will Perry resign his day job?

Perry to End Bid for Presidency
    By JEFF ZELENY

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is poised to end his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, according to two Republicans close to Mr. Perry, a decision that comes two days before the South Carolina primary.

Mr. Perry will not participate in the debate here on Thursday evening, an aide said, and will make the announcement to supporters and contributors in South Carolina at an 11 a.m. press conference. He had been aggressively campaigning across the state, hoping that the first Southern primary would revive his candidacy.

It was the second time that Mr. Perry had signaled that he would leave the race. After a poor showing in the Iowa caucuses two weeks ago, Mr. Perry said that he was returning to Texas to reassess his campaign, but he decided to press ahead in South Carolina.

It was unclear whether Mr. Perry would endorse one of his Republican rivals before the South Carolina primary on Saturday. Mr. Perry was in the single digits in recent polls here, but his withdrawal from the race could impact the outcome of the primary by giving conservative voters one fewer alternative. He had been appealing heavily to South Carolina’s evangelical voters.

The decision of Mr. Perry, which was first reported by CNN, narrows the Republican field to four candidates.

“taking Romney out of the race” ??? You are dillusional. When is the last time you saw a guy polling at 2% have ANY affect on a race? Perry has been insignificant for a long time, and his “endorsement” means nothing… I guess if Huntsman would endorse Newt, he would be a shoe-in…

The email above is not an official missive from the Perry campaign. It’s from an informal group of people known as the Perry Posse, who are all volunteers, but not paid staff, or even remotely coordinated with the paid campaign staff. I know all the fine people in the donor list.

The poll was spread throughout the pro-Perry Facebook groups and Tweeter feeds, and like every other good rumor on Facebook, they kinda got viral.

You know, when you’ve staked your heart and soul into Perry’s campaign, that kind of stuff happens, especially with all of the hate you people here spread around about my Aggie brother.

The Perry Posse doesn’t have the luxury of ranting and raving anonymously on Texas Monthly blogs about how stupid everyone but The One, Obama is.

    Feel free to visit The Rick Perry Report (linked in my signature above) for more reasoned analysis that not even Paul Burka, of whom a Texas conservative like *me* is a huge fan, can’t touch (-;

We PerryBots love our hyperbole. It’s all a part of the barn-stormin’, hell raisin’ persona of the man in the black cowboy boots we have come to admire.

BTW, Welcome home Rick Perry. Thanks for all you do!

The rest of you commenters, go to hell. And Morrow, always remember…. I mean ALWAYS remember that the CIA is ALWAYS watching you!
