Whose Swine Is It Anyway?

So everyone’s afraid that their kids will get the swine flu or that one of the kids in preschool will get the swine flu and and spread it to all the other kids and those parents will be shunned by their former friends and colleagues. Not that your kid should be in preschool anyway. What, being a stay-home mommy isn’t enough for you? You need to keep that dead-end job? Must be nice not to mind that a total stranger is raising your child for you.

You’ve probably been wondering where that H1N1 vaccine is. I’ll tell you where it is. It’s in NEW YORK CITY, where it’s being distributed to Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs. No longer content with just our tax dollars, now they want our livelihood. State health departments are in charge of distributing the doses and clearly New York thinks that the rich and beautiful should be saved first. Damn, man. I’ll be lucky if I get the vaccine in five years.

Health department officials are claiming that at-risk employees at the big firms will receive the vaccines first. Right. Because I’m SO SURE that a majority of Citigroup employees are 85-year-old pregnant women with tuberculosis. Speaking of who’s considered “high priority,” have you noticed where unmarried women rank? Like, below dead people. If you’re not a child, or pregnant, or a doctor, or old as shit, apparently you’re just not that valuable to society. But you already knew that.

Is this a Republican plot? Something that Bloomberg put together?

One of these days, all of you will figure out that the big boys in banking, insurance, etc. control both houses of congress. You will understand that $ contols everything.

No se puede should have been Obama’s battle cry.
All the promises of banking, hedging, and CDS reform have never materialized – nor will they.

Look where all the bailout money has gone … to the bigs … with no accountability.

He’s a phoney. When Chris Matthews starts questioning his ability to lead, as opposed to getting up in front of a camera and microphone and talking a good game, you know we are in trouble.

BTW, I’m almost as old as shit and that doesn’t advance my place in the flu shot line.\

So, beginning with W, we gave Wall Street the money to handle its own bail-out. The current administration doesn’t have a better idea, it appears. Most of those outlandish bonuses will be paid. Now we will be sure that they’re well enough to enjoy those bucks and saved jobs by giving them preferential access to preventative care. What could possibly be wrong with this situation?
JJ just lacks proper respect for greed and self-dealing. He is hereby sentenced to serial reading of Ayn Rand, Milton Freidman, Alan Greenspan, et al. And may the Lord have mercy on his moral sensitivity. He will also perform 2000 hours of community service by raising funds for Rick Perry.

If my wife had H1N1 and I didn’t catch it, does that work as good as the shot? She was too sick to go to work but I don’t think her version of the virus rises to the level of national emergency. Or household emergency even.

I think I may have the flu. I’m pretty sure I have eye problems. I couldn’t see going to work today.

What’s REALLY annoying is when you DO have a suppressed immune system and all three of your specialist doctors say you MUST get a swine flu shot — but NONE of them have the shots to give you. And NOBODY on the planet (or at least here in Central Texas) seems to have the shots.

I give up. Guess I will just have to die. It was nice bloggifying with all of you…

The best immune response to the damn thing, unfortunately, is to catch it. Treat it quickly and then aggressively go after any secondary nonsense that comes along…for those of us w/relatively healthy immune systems. The regular seasonal stuff is still killing more people, but this one hits like a sledgehammer-only harder and faster.
