The Incredibly Shrinking Women

Why some people have to make a great moment in the history of this country ALL ABOUT GENDER is beyond me. I felt that the health care debate on the House floor was perfectly balanced. But there will always be someone who stands up and cries sexism and whines about how women’s voices aren’t being heard. I think I speak for everyone when I say, why are women talking in the first place? Whenever I see a woman talking, I tune her out until a man starts speaking because I don’t want to hear about “boyfriends” and “cramps” and “does this make my butt look big.” (Honey, if you need to ask, then it probably does.)

The bloggers over at ThinkProgress, however, are convinced that Republicans have waged a War On Women, and spent hours on Saturday watching the debate on C-SPAN. That’s kind of how my Saturday went, except for watching the debate on C-SPAN. According to TP and, let’s face it, we’re going to have to take their word for it, when the Democratic Women’s Caucus had the microphone and tried to make arguments for how the health care bill would benefit women, Republicans, led by Rep. Tom Price (GA), “repeatedly talked over, screamed, and shouted objections. ‘I object, I object, I object, I object, I object,’ Price interjected as Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) tried to hold the floor.”

The Republicans went on to talk over any Democratic woman who dared to speak, and attempted to prevent the debate by calling for unnecessary “parliamentary inquiries” and “urinary incontinence” breaks. OK, first question. Why are there women in Congress anyway? And, for that matter, a woman speaker? Why don’t we leave the big important things to the men, like war, because they do such a fantastic job at it? It’s not that women can’t be heard—God knows how shrill they can be, am I right?—it’s that they shouldn’t be heard.

Now before you get all feminazi on me, I’m not saying that all women are stupid. I’m just saying that men are smarter (as evidenced in this video). In all honesty, those female Democrats who couldn’t get a word in because they kept getting interrupted by those Big Bad Men? You’re giving Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman a bad name. Man up, sweetheart. I can “CAN I FINISH?!” with the best of them. And if that doesn’t work, a swift kick to the balls. It’s an oldie, but a goodie.

Wow. Who let the home-schooled crybabies into the chambers to scream “object” over and over? I think there is a med for that sort of attention-seeking hyperactivity.

Love the way this video was pieced together to convey a slanted story and an ugly picture, and you obviously got the hook stuck well into your lip.

What was the reason behind the point of order requests? Were all these woman speaking in order, or was there possibly a male speaker sandwiched in there somewhere?

As Paul Harvey would ask, “Where’s the rest of the story?”

Well OF COURSE it’s slanted. That’s half the fun. But I’m just a girl.

do the /slants/ excuse the behavior, cuz I’m just curious

if I had ever behaved that way in public, my mom would have washed my mouth out with soap

I guess these guys didn’t have moms…well no WONDER!

so THAT’S what happened to their manners! They call this ” barking truth to power”, right?

Its just a part of society where stupid stuff is mimicked to get attention. The R congressmen are just mimicking teabagger and talk radio rudeness. Next up, congressmen wearing their suit pants low to show off their boxer shorts.

It’s fortunate that the health plan that covers congressmen has a mental health benefit, though Rep. Price might be rejected because of a prior condition.

Next thing you know, some Republican Congressman will hurl an insult while the President of the United States is making a speech.

Well, it must be true…that old saying…when a Democrat enters the White House, Republicans forget their manners. Typical. Take your marbles (or what you have left of them) and go home!

That’s a classic move that used to work quite well for State Rep. Senfronia Thompson, D-Houston. She would stand right next to them while they were at the mic and just stare at them while they tried to talk – causing them to get all flustered and forget what they were saying. It was hilarious.
