Tony Garza Endorses Rick Perry, Won’t Run For Office Again
Just finished a 45-minute phone call with Tony Garza, the former Secretary of State and Railroad Commission chairman who went on to be the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico for the last six-plus years. Among the juiciest tidbits: He unambiguously endorsed Rick Perry in the Republican primary for governor, and he dismissed the suggestion that he might come home and run for office. “You’re not going to see my name on a ballot again,” he said.
I’ll post excerpts once the interview is transcribed.

Texun says:
“He unambiguously endorsed Rick Perry…” Help me remember some ambiguous endorsements by Texans.

Well heck something like half of the names on KBH’s “Endorsement” list came out later and saying they had not expressly endorsed her. They didn’t exactly say she didn’t have her support but their irritation at being included seemed ambiguous.(In quite, quite a few recanted saying they didn’t support her at all.)

“He dismissed the suggestion that he might come home and run for office.” That’s not exactly recent news. He has stated that before, specifically in front of appx 300 people at a Harlingen Chamber of Commerce luncheon in November 2008. It’s not quoted in the article linked below, but it was definitely said.
