President Goodhair?

I’m telling you, this Tea Party stuff has done wonders for Rick Perry’s much-speculated about White House prospects. Why shouldn’t he run in 2012? Who’s gonna beat him in a Republican primary, when base conservatives will turn out in droves to register their displeasure with the previous four years? The former govs tainted by a loss to John McCain in ‘08? The current govs nobody has heard of? Gingrich? Jindal? Palin? If I were Dave Carney or David Weeks, I’d go for broke: Make sure you beat Kay like a drum, crush whichever sacrificial lamb the Democrats put up in the general, and then immediately head to Iowa. Tell me — who sets up better, on paper and in person, as an anti-Obama?

Which is not to say he can win…

I suspect that Romney would win, though not necessarily in Iowa. Perry is moving too far to the right.

Evan, when folks like you start writing good things about Perry (even though your tougne is firmly planted in some cheek) two things any sane person should do. one get out the ice grips for the boots since hell must have frozen over and two tell Perry to watch his back he might be slipping towards the left.

I do agree that if KBH takes Perry on and bails out of the senate her party will never forgive her her selfishness. and she’ll lose like a pair of pants on prom night.

Why Not, which explains why Senate Republicans are going to be PISSED if KBH resigns her Senate seat, beacuse McConnell and Co., will pull a Rove with robo-calls and smear her family (see McCain sabatoge in SC in 2000), so that Perry can win the primary and win reelection to a 3rd full term.

If Perry wins the primary, I’m not so sure he blows out Schieffer (maybe 56-44) and if he runs for President in 2012, Obama will destroy him very, very badly in the general, 70-29 carrying 48 or 49 states.

The GOP better wait until 2016 to get the White House because it’s looking very likely Obama will be the last Democratic President in my lifetime.

Texun, 2012 is likely Romney’s last chance of being President unless he’s pressured to challenge Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick (D), who’s very unpopular right now with his approval ratings at 27 percent.

It will be a little hard to run for President if Perry is from a state that is no longer in the Union!

    I like that one, Carol.
31% of Texans think we should have the right to secede and Perry has locked up their vote. He beats KBH with that base right there.

No, we will continue to be the laughing stock of the country and may never send another President to the White House.

From what “reliable source” did you acquire this information and what is the proof that McConnell and Rove personally carried out or approved such dastardly deeds?

This country is just dumb enough for him to pull it off. Mediocrity has no limits when it comes to politics.

The last Texan elevated to national office who actually deserved that office and was competent to hold it was Mr. Sam. Every Texan since who has held national office of much significance (not counting Cabinet secretaries, given that significance varies greatly by department) has been a disaster for the United States and heaped infamy on Texas.

This is not a partisan thing, either. Both parties have contributed to this hall of shame: Vice President and President Lyndon B. Johnson (D), House Majority Leader and Speaker Jim Wright (D), Vice President and President George H.W. Bush (R), House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R), House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R), President George W. Bush (R) and Vice President Dick Cheney (R). (Notwithstanding the ruling by U.S. District Judge Sid Fitzwater — bless his heart — in the aftermath of the 2000 election, Dick Cheney did, indeed, reside in Texas while working as the chairman and CEO of Halliburton.) And now Gov. Rick Perry wants to add to this embarrassing list.

I therefore propose the following amendment to the United States Constitution: No person who shall have been born in or ever have registered to vote or ever have resided in the state of Texas shall hold an elected position in the national government, other than a member of the United States House of Representatives or United States Senate.

The more Gov. Thirty-nine Percent prances around with teabags streaming from his goodhair while he preaches secession, the more plausible and, indeed, desirable such an amendment will become to enough of the rest of the country to secure ratification.
