Notomayor
So KBH did the safe and predictable thing, which is to fake right. If she wasn’t running for governor against a guy who doesn’t have to fake, I’m guessing she’d have pulled a Lindsey Graham. The question for her — and her new team — is, How do you grow the primary vote when you spend all your time competing for the base? If she’s making a case for herself as a pragmatic alternative to the status quo, I haven’t heard it.

KBH is trying to say, she’s more RACIST than Perry in talking to the segregationist base of the Texas Republican Party when she said NO to Sotomayor.
IF and it’s a big if she survives against Perry in the primary, she’ll be facing a backlash from a constituency that is going to takeover Texas by 2020 when experts predict Hispanics will become a majority in this state once the Anglo population starts dying off.

It is clear the racist is you and Sotomayor. Between deportations and their felony records, their vote is still rather small.

Ahhhh, the tried and truthy bromide of the Texas professional Democrat: “You just wait! We don’t really have to do anything but rail and plot until the Inevitable Hispanic Wave saves the day for us! In the meantime, it’s snark, in-fighting, and protecting my clients. What’s the opportunity cost of drinking at the Star Bar (or Joe’s now, I guess) and howling at the moon while you wait for demographics to save the day?

not to mention the implicit “reverse racism” that if you oppose a Hispanic it can’t be on the grounds of qualifications or philosophy, but 100 percent about race.

Evan, I love you man, I really do. But your view of KBH’s decision not to support Sotomayor is not based in any reality, political or otherwise. A conservative of any stripe simply cannot justify a vote to place a justice on the court for life who openly attests to an activist judicial stance. Texas is a conservative state, i know that’s shocking to you, a new york vegetarian and all, but generally the state leans right…Sotomayor is a justice who, while I believe is qualified, clearly holds a different view than most conservatives of the role of the justice…and therefore neither KBH nor JRP can defend a vote to confirm her nomination.
Simple as that. Nice headline though.

What does this magazine even have to do with Texas other than the label? I was flipping through one and between advocating gun control and more taxes and pandering to illegals, I get the impression this should be called The Carpetbagger.

Isn’t it just possible that KBH and Cornyn voted against Sotomayor for some reason other than the fact that she is a wise latina? Could it be they felt she was unqualified for the job? Or perhaps they felt that she would inject her liberal politics into her judicial decisions? Never mind. It’s because she’s hispanic.

Yeah, but VF’s Farrah (or is that FARRAH?) is sharing cover duty with Michael Jackson. Maybe when Willie dies, TM will do a special cover, but right now I’m looking forward to the enchilada cover.

What a break: with his new venture, the talking-point Republicans will be able to abuse Evan on a more regular basis. Of course, they’re right: Texas is overun with carpetbaggers and has been since Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston arrived. Not to mention the entrepreneurs who developed the electronics and downstream sector of our oil industry. It’s time to clear out the state and leave it to Hispanics and Native Americans.
Let’s just amend the constitution to permit only people whose families have been here for at least ten generations to vote.

Evan is just hanging out until we can get a Democrat in office. The only question is, when hispanics are the majority, will he recommend they appoint a white or black person minority?

The Texas Democrats will have to wait until 2014 to get the Governor’s Mansion back once Perry leaves after 14 years on January 20, 2015.
