Mike Leach maybe a good coach, but he has no class. He almost always blames the players for the team’s short comings. Texas Tech will never be a great team until it has a great coach and the Pirate is not the man. The Raiders will probably get hammered by the two great coaches in the Big XII and that is the ones from Texas and OU.

I wonder if that “great” coach from OU will lose yet another bowl game…why anyone thinks Texas or OU can beat Florida is beyond me.

I am a subscriber, but will buy a few extra copies for friends. There never has been better–or more fun–time to be a football fan in he state of Texas.

Love them or hate them, having Mack Brown and Mike Leach sailing on he same seas is great entertainment. You know that Mike Leach is irreverent and colorful.

However, what is lost on most fans (and writers) is a subtle “in your face” aggressive style from Mack Brown. Brown is every bit as much a pirate and scoundrel as Mike Leach. You just have to know what Mack is really saying.

Sherman–not so much. The poor fellow is way out of his league with these two.

    Reply

  23. Wm Kerns says:

Winners are yet to be determined; obviously, favorites already have been picked by “experts,” juggled and tossed about. I still believe, however, that few college football fans have more FUN than those who fill Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock to watch Coach Leach’s Red Raiders. Coach Leach has Texas Tech fans expecting exciting games, and a season with endless possibilities. Plus, he can be an entertaining interview, which I suspect a great many Texas Monthly readers are about to discover…

    Briscoe Democrat Reply:

    Wm Kerns,

Texas Tech’s problem this year will be that they don’t have Mike Crabtree and Graham Harrell to bail them out anymore, so I expect the Red Raiders to fall back.

Oklahoma State IS the one team everyone will watch, and I strongly believe they could go 10-2 since they have no prayer against Texas and OU.

    Raider88 Reply:

Briscoe Democrap: TTU spreads the ball around way to much to be as one-dimensional as you would insinuate. Look at the stats on number of receivers with catches per game. Also look at Potts’ stats before posting nonsense. Add TTU to the teams OSU has no prayer against.

READ about TECH before you post things you dont know…..

Leach is one of a kind — way too off-the-wall to be employable by one of the “established” programs, but a lot smarter than most of his peers in coaching. If you’re doubting the Red Raiders this year, get ready for a surprise.

It was a collossal collapse in security and measures have been taken to prevent it from ever happening again. That said, I really miss good sportsmanship in the banter and light-hearted rivalry. A&M Petroleum Engineering program was ranked 1st, Mays Business School, I have complete confidence in the work they do in creating leaders of the business industries.

Looking philisophically at the purpose and goals of educational programs, the intelligence and quality of students going into a program is not as important as the increased/developed quality of graduates exiting the program. So if dumber kids enter one program but grow and develop more and become competitive with smarter students who enter more “prestigious” programs at say an ivey league school, I think that shows merit to the less prestigious program.
such was part of the philosophy that led to Washington Monthy ranking A&M best in nation in serving the nation in 2007.

so what do i care what SAT score some kids got going into a program, truth is, it does not reflect enough the effective academic services of that program.

HAHA, you sand fleas amuse me. The USN&WR came out yesterday and once again, tceh is the worst school in the conference. Your degrees will continue to double as Denny’s placemats. I love the random fabrications though of Texas Tech having more Fortune 500 CEOs than anyone other than Texas.

In tceh’s miserable history, your crap school has produced a mere 12 CEOs.

Also, check the Princeton review, Rawls College at TTU is ranked 25th in the nation for employee satisfaction. a&m is in the 40s…

look up rankings for which colleges offer the best valued education, let’s compare.

we could go on with rankings, truth is they bore me, I don’t think A&M’s the best sorely due to rankings alone. Truth is there’s more to it than that, and tu ranked higher than A&M in a lot of things thus, I won’t say A&M ranked better than tt just b/c of rankings. We’ve always wanted to be more than just what outsiders choose to rank us as.

Provide me a credible source, you blithering dunce. We know you’re making it up, but we also realize you’re stupid enough to believe that.

Businessweek has A%M as the #37 overall and #17 public. As usual, tceh is nowhere to be found.

At least admit how remedial and worthless your school is. Lying to attempt to validate yourself just further solifies your pathetic state of life.

gotta love those ignorant aggie comments! i hope they realize tech is ranked #8 in the nation in petroleum engineering, not to mention our business majors have a higher SAT score than the average business major at a&m.
But keep these comments coming, we love it!!

i love how all the UT fans on here are classy and have respect for Tech and its students, while the aggies try to mock us the best they can.
Am i sensing some jealousy from no-mans land aka college station? =)
But thank you, UT, for your class. The respect is mutual (although we love beating you more than any other team) =)

I’d like to see A&M actually put up a fight against us this year ;)

    Why Heather,

thou art surely wise, for thou hast found a great way to get any given Fightin Texas Aggie mad. Calling tu classier than A&M, is indeed a fine tactic, I must say. Well I suppose we are sore about football, truly we are so much more than football, so it should not hurt us, but it does. When you’re a Texas school, and football is so important for recognizing schools for greatness, your damn right we’re sore. I’m going to be able to help the 12th man take y’all out, so I’ll see y’all on the field.

Ahhh the aggies’ panache for linguistic cluster phucks…..

In today’s edition of feebile rivalry smack:

Item #1: Refer to Texas Tech as “tceh”
“DOOOOOOHHHHHH! WE GOTS DEM GOOD! DAT’S SOME GOOD BULL!”

Item #2: Refer to UT as “t.u” – “DOOOOOOHHHHH! Hot damn, DAT’S MORE GOOD BULL!”

“HOWDY, Damn it, ma’am – yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk!”

OK, enough – jeez. Look, collectively you’re embarassing the state of Texas. And all of this nonsense about making carrots maroon as well as bluebonnets, ridiculous. What’s next? Change navel oranges into maroon?

Can’t wait to see what stupid ranking comparison you jokers are going to throw at us. Do we care? No, not really. I bet you wished you felt the same way about your pathetic football team….alas, another losing season, hayseeds!

A&M does not have a law school, therefore I find it very unlikely that we’ll ever make it to the top 35. Thanks for looking for us though = D

why is it everytime I come back to visit this lil blog I leave with a smile? Come on guys, throw me something good besides bullshit rankings.

ps doesn’t Mike Leach have a law degree? just curious.

    AgMarine,
are you seriously giving Tech fans the “bs rankings” talk? Cause, as i’m reading this, that is all that a&m fans are trying to shoot at us.
the only “rankings” i have read from tech fans on this blog are just that tech has more Fortune 500 CEO alumni than any other texas school besides UT, and that tech’s business school students have a higher average SAT score than those at a&m’s school.

but agmarine, i agree with you, no more rankings.

lets just stick with what this article is about:
FOOTBALL! unfortunately for a&m, its just another thing they suck at. considering Tech has beaten them 11 out of the last 13 years. domination whoop? =)

Evidently all of these aggie fans are so bitter with their unique hatred for Tech that they feel they need to blog against us anywhere they can on the internet. What great class you a&m students show. You should be proud. You should acknowledge and respect another university’s success, rather than holding grudges because their team happens to beat you on the field every year.

I would just like to say that I will be graduating this year from Tech with a business degree that employers consider to be the 25th best in the nation, public and private (princeton review).
    a&m, once again, is lower.
How about Texas Tech’s acceptance rate vs. a&ms?
its about 75% to 76%. not much of a difference, but tech is still more selective. How about Tech’s engineering school? among the best in the world.

So now I ask you, please, a&m students, learn to accept that your university is not “the cream of the crop”. I graduated HS with a 4.0 and I chose Tech over UT and A&M, and i’m damn glad i did.
    ;P

    Well Heather,
I’m pretty sure I’ve refuted anyone’s comments on comparing rankings and trying to go toe to toe with y’all there, but as I said it’s too easy, and they get boring.

But for example when one techie, wants to compare Law Rankings with A&M, I have to perceive him as slow b/c we don’t have a law school, so why would he be bashing us on how low we are on the lists.

The other dude was reporting how tt was ranked #8 in Petroleum Engineering, that is really great, good for you guys! But we ranked #1 by the same people so why are y’all trying to use that?

Another unimportant figure brought up by y’all, that you’re students entering your Business School have a higher avg SAT score than ours.. yeah I explained why that doesn’t really reflect how great a business school is.

if you guys have more CEO’s in fortune 500 companies, that’s pretty BAMF, I’d like to see a link to this, but hey way to go tech.

y’all shoot out the stats and rankings at us, and I’m just responding without trying to give the impression of being too arrogant and without class. But w/ y’all there’s just no pleasing. I mean c’mon who didn’t like the maroon bluebonnets? Was that out of taste, I’m an engaging fellow looking to do some bashing if y’all don’t want to play, don’t mention the Aggies in your posts, cuz then I’ll come knocking.

Football, well admittedly when I was in HS, I was not a big college football fan. My senior year, A&M lost huge to OU 77-0 : ( People asked me why am I going to A&M, there football team lost to OU. Well I don’t play football, and I went to A&M for academics, the Corps, spirit and tradition. Though I don’t play football on the field, as a member the 12th Man I can confidently say even when we’re down we never lose a game, just run out of time, we always try and have a good time.

I don’t understand how SAT scores have nothing to do with the school itself, but thank you for your genuine response. The only reason why a&m is being brought up on this site is because aggies keep on posting stuff about why they hate tech and why they think they are so much better than us. If they didn’t come on here bashing us, they would not even be apart of this discussion. Again, it is only an article on the Tech coach, and yet somehow it ends up being about a&m’s “superiority” to tech?
Can you see how stuff like this gets annoying?
We only want respect, on or off the field. I know i can say the same for a&m, but there can NOT be a double standard.
But thanks for your response, it was much better than the other aggie comments i have read on here =)

Well hey, on this we can agree there’s no need to “hate” another school, especially if they’re from within the Great State of Texas. So hey sorry for being a bit overzealous. We enjoy bashing our rival schools, but we should not do it to such an extent that we come off as pricks. Congratulations on having such a successful coach.

    Thanks & Gig’em Heather!
