A commenter keeps insisting that I write about the Chris Bell race. Boring. Look at the Georgia Senate race. The people who voted Democratic on election day did not care about down-ballot races. They voted straight ticket, but they only cared about Obama. They didn't come back to vote in the Senate race. The problem with the Democratic party, in Texas and throughout the Southern states, is that, even though the Republicans have had such a terrible three years that many R's have abandoned the party, the Democrats are not credible enough to win over these newly minted independents. Few voters had any incentive to go vote for Bell. On top of that, the Democrats have very little consultant talent. The people involved in the Bell race were not even second-tier. The mail was terrible. The message was missing. And there is no first tier. Enough already.
