Former congresswoman (for a fortnight) Shelley Sekula Gibbs and former Senate staffer Pete Olson will meet in a runoff to determine the Republican challenger against incumbent Democrat Nick Lampson. Sekula Gibbs led the ten-candidate field witj 16,681 votes (29/.72%), ahead of Olson’s 11.630 votes (20.72%). Republican strategists believe that Olson has the best chance to beat Lampson, who, remarkably, appears to have a good chance to hold the seat.
