One of the most famous annual gatherings of the world’s elite is the Bilderburg Group, described on Wikipedia as “an unofficial annual invitation-only conference of around 130 guests, most of whom are persons of influence in the fields of business, media, and politics. The elite group meets annually at exclusive, four or five-star resorts throughout the world, normally in Europe, once every four years in the United States or Canada. It has an office in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands. They met at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey for the June, 2007 meeting … [T]he contents of the meetings are kept secret and attendees pledge not to divulge what was discussed.”

Among the invitees to this year’s group was Rick Perry, who was one of 44 participants from the United States. This was by far the largest delegation, the host country finishing second with twelve.
