Rove on Rove
Thu August 20, 2009 10:04 am

Today's Wall Street Journal carries an article by Karl Rove, who defends himself against allegations that he improperly intervened in the firing of U.S. Attorneys and in the prosecution of Alabama governor Don Sieligman, which Rove attributes to the New York Times, the Washington Post, and congressional Democrats.

Rove writes regularly for the Journal, and this appears as his weekly column. I'm surprised that Rove chose to make his legal issues the subject of his column, and I'm even more surprised that the Journal let him do it. If I had been editor of the Journal and Rove had submitted this for publication, my response would have been, "This is advertising, not journalism. If you want it to appear in the paper, buy an ad."
