Tonight is the governor’s race debate, in competition with the Texas-OU weekend, high school football, and the baseball playoffs. One of the features of the format is that each candidate has the opportunity to ask a question of another candidate. Who gets to question whom has been predetermined, and, as luck would have it, Carole Keeton Strayhorn gets to direct her question at Rick Perry. (Perry will ask his question of Kinky.)

So, let’s play a little game. What question would you ask of Perry if you were Strayhorn? And, what question would you ask of Kinky if you were Perry?

My Strayhorn question: Governor Perry, with all due respect, more than half of all Texans disapprove of the job you are doing as governor, and more than half of all likely voters plan to vote for someone other than you on November 7. If you are reelected, will you keep promoting the same policies that have benefited insurance companies, utility companies, homebuilders, roadbuilders, and big polluters, or will you change your approach to benefit ordinary Texans and their families who want better health care and better schools?

My Perry question: Kinky, now that you have been running for governor for awhile, do you understand how hard it can be?
