Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business is riding high these days. Hispanic magazine named it one of the best business schools for Hispanic students in 2007, and the program often appears on lists in Forbes and other impressive publications. TCU students must agree with this assessment—that school attracts the most majors of any on campus. The business school’s Entrepreneurship Center also presents the annual road trip, which takes students on a tour of successful former start-ups like Dell.
TCU offers nearly 100 majors to its more than 7,200 undergraduates, and multiple campus improvements have beefed up many programs in recent years. The College of Education moved into a new complex in 2007, with renovated buildings and entirely new structures that provide more classroom space, conference rooms, and the latest in teaching technology. Construction continues on a student union (scheduled to open in 2008) and the last of four new residence halls, all part of a larger Campus Commons project designed to expand and enhance the university’s existing 265 acres.
TCU students embrace the Greek life, with approximately 3,500 undergraduates belonging to fraternities and sororities. Sports participation is also encouraged. TCU sponsors 18 men’s and women’s varsity teams, which compete as part of the NCAA Division 1-A. Intramural teams also attract a healthy number of students. Off campus, Fort Worth’s dining and nightlife provide plenty of after-hours entertainment. The family-owned Perrotti’s Pizza has long been a student hangout, and Fat Harry’s Daiquiris and Tavern is another favorite. Billy Bob’s Texas draws die-hard country fans and adventurous bull riders.
