Texas Wesleyan University’s reputation for producing a high number of skilled bilingual teachers has always made the school proud. And TWU was rewarded again in 2007 when the school received a $1.3 million grant to fund the bilingual education program. In addition to its fine education programs, TWU has 21 other majors, among which are international business administration, art, paralegal studies, and fire management.
TWU’s sports teams compete in the NAIA and the Red River Athletic Conference. The school’s table tennis team has won the national championship every year since 2002 and continues to excel. TWU also sponsors six intramural sports programs, one of which is a poker league. The more than 60 student groups and clubs allow the school’s 1,300 students to pursue a wide range of interests and hobbies, and many Greek organizations are represented on campus.
TWU’s 74-acre urban campus is just five minutes from downtown Fort Worth. Undergraduates often become involved in service projects like the annual Cowtown Brush Up, which sends students into neighboring areas to help with painting, yard cleanup, and other beautification tasks. When they want to relax, students head to live music venues like the Aardvark.
