From its charming hilltop campus to its rigorous academics, Trinity University earns rave reviews from all quarters. Many of its red brick buildings have panoramic views of the San Antonio cityscape. Fountains and native live oak trees add serenity to the 117-acre campus. Approximately 2,400 undergraduates attend Trinity, which has 37 majors, including a unique five-year degree program that allows students to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in teaching or accounting. The school’s business, engineering science, and English programs attract the most undergraduates.
More than 130 student organizations exist at Trinity, where only one quarter of the undergraduates go Greek. Many more participate in service opportunities. Trinity University Volunteer Action Center acts as a clearinghouse where students can find hundreds of volunteer opportunities. A well-regarded lecture series attracts both students and San Antonio locals. Once a week students, faculty, and staff gather for Nacho Hour, where they mingle over aguas frescas and nachos.
Trinity undergraduates spend their first three years living in one of 16 residence halls. Unlike dorms on many other campuses, though, Trinity’s are quite appealing, with maid service and wireless Internet access. Some even have balcony views of the city skyline. (CosmoGIRL! magazine once voted Trinity’s dorms among the nicest in the country.)
Students spend some of their free time on St. Mary’s Street, where a number of clubs attract undergraduates from nearby colleges. Joey’s is a favorite spot for pub food and pool. There’s also Trinity Night at the Spurs, a program that allows students to catch San Antonio’s hometown team on the cheap.
