Situated in the West Texas community of San Angelo, Angelo State University features a mix of strong academic programs and one of the largest scholarship endowments in the nation. ASU undergraduates choose from 40 academic programs with nearly 100 majors. ASU’s Management, Instruction, and Research (MIR) Center is an impressive 6,000-acre agricultural teaching facility, located just north of San Angelo. Students can also take advantage of educational opportunities and enjoy recreational downtime at the ASU Lake House on nearby Lake Nasworthy.

ASU offers a strong honors program, a nationally recognized physics department, an active field biology program, and expanded offerings in international studies. The first Texas university to offer a degree in computer science, ASU today sponsors a gaming component in computer studies and is home to the Texas State Data Center, where a cutting-edge computer system provides backup for many of the state’s electronic records. As the newest member of the Texas Tech University System, Angelo State is implementing several 4+1 programs where ASU students can earn a bachelor’s degree in four years, and then receive a master’s degree from Texas Tech in one year.

The university is committed to retaining its students. The Carr Scholarship Foundation, with its $81 million endowment, supports one in every six ASU students. Students reside on the 268-acre campus in one of seven modern residence halls, two of which feature apartment-style living. Centennial Village, which opened in fall 2008, is the university’s newest residential facility.
