Graceful Georgian-style buildings and generous green spaces dot the lovely SMU campus, which is just five miles from Dallas’s high-powered city center. More than 6,000 undergraduates attend this liberal arts university, which features 200-plus campus organizations, hundreds of public art events, and a distinguished speaker series. SMU’s Meadows Museum houses an impressive collection of Spanish art and often shows traveling exhibits.

SMU offers 123 undergraduate degree programs. The Cox School of Business and the Meadows School of the Arts attract many high achievers, and the Dedman School of Law consistently turns out the best and the brightest. Internship opportunities are plentiful, given the school’s connections to Dallas businesses, law firms, and other organizations. More than 20 study-abroad programs also enhance the SMU learning experience.

But SMU students know how to have fun too. Many turn out to cheer the top-ranked men’s soccer team, and a new football coach has generated excitement around campus. Students also take advantage of SMU’s proximity to downtown and to entertainment districts and neighborhoods like Deep Ellum and the West End.

Caruth Hall, a new engineering building, is under construction and will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. Also under way is Elizabeth Perkins Prothro Hall, a state-of-the-art addition to the Perkins School of Theology that will include seminar space, classrooms, and computer and preaching labs. It also will be LEED certified. The campus’s most newsworthy addition will be the George W. Bush Presidential Library. The three-part complex will feature a library, a museum, and a public policy institute.
