The University of Texas at Arlington boasts several singular academic programs as well as an on-going commitment to research that addresses today’s needs in the fields of health care, education, and national infrastructure. In fact, UT Arlington’s research initiatives will be further enhanced by a new engineering research complex. The university’s School of Architecture is tied for first place nationally as the most innovative program of its kind. The studio arts program combines the study of traditional art forms like painting and sculpture with work in glass, neon, and metals, and the Studio Arts Center’s spacious facilities atract some of the country’s most talented art students. The School of Urban and Public Affairs also receives high marks from professionals in the field. In all, UTA offers 90 undergraduate degrees that involve both classroom study and research opportunities.
More than 25,000 students attend UT Arlington, and the 420-acre campus includes more than 100 buildings. The university’s on-campus housing facilities accommodate approximately 4,500 students. Recent enhancements to the Maverick Activities Center added 80,000 square feet of recreational space to the original facility.
Students find opportunities for engagement in the university’s new residence halls and apartments, 300 student organizations, community service options, Leadership Academy, NCAA athletics, and on-campus events such as the new Maverick Speakers Series, which features outstanding thinkers such as Thomas L. Friedman and Spike Lee.
