Austinites may not know about Tacodeli, but people who visit the Austin Farmer’s Market regularly know of the little taco stand that brings breakfast tacos and lunch tacos. Austin360 named it best breakfast taco winner of 2007.
My boyfriend is fond of the chicken frontero fondido and he’s not the only one. The taco is filled with spiced chicken, onions, and poblano peppers. I always steal a bit. On a recent visit I tried the Cowboy taco and Puerco en Salsa Verde Taco, both heavenly. And spicy. The roasted vegetables in the Cowboy taco were perfectly cooked and had that smoky flavor. The Puerco had really tender meat with a great green salsa.

In 2007, Tacodeli won third place in the green sauce contest in the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival for their Dona salsa. It will BLOW you away. More like catches your mouth aflame, but it is really good and very hot. I bet Robb Walsh would love it because it has a lot of jalapenos in it. A new addition to their salsa menu is a habenero salsa, which I haven’t tried, but can’t wait to.

Tacodeli has daily specials and has selections for meat eaters, pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans. I believe its the best taco place in town.
Have a favorite taco place let me know of it! I love me some tacos!
