(From November 2009) Daniel Badillo and his wife, Rose, picked up the 7th Street Station Grill, moved it next to the Leonard’s Department Store Museum, and gave it a new name. Now customers have access to a fun gallery of memorabilia from the old Leonard Brothers’ retail venture along with a tasty roster of burgers, fries, and milk shakes. There are salads too (we like the Subway Car Trio, with chicken salad, tuna salad, and a tasty cup of either chicken tortilla or tomato basil soup), as well as daily specials (we give the hand-breaded chicken-fried steak a score of 9.5).

(From November 2008) You have to queue up to order, but you’ll need the time to read the multiple menu boards. If you can dream it up, it’s probably served here. Pot roast with a side of cheese fries? You got it. Fish tacos? No problema. Our order came wrapped in whole-wheat tortillas with grilled onions and plenty of seasonings, accompanied by our choice of side: fried zucchini. It’s comfort food and calories at their best in this cheerful former beer joint. Beer & wine.

(From April 2009) For generations, the all-American cooking here has kept Cowtowners patiently waiting in long lines for breakfasts of eggs over easy, corned beef hash, fist-size biscuits, massive waf-fles—you name it. The lunch bunch likes the CFS, a legend in its own time, with a slice of pie or a saucer-size chocolate chip cookie for dessert.
