Burgers

(From June 2011)

Burger lovers here make tracks for gourmet creations featuring pa-paya, beets, fried duck eggs—even a Shipley doughnut. We went mainstream with our burgers, choosing a bacon-guacamole-cheddar-and-arugula and a mushroom-Swiss-and-dijonnaise, both so juicy the yummy buns got pretty soggy. Crispy fries sprinkled with coarse salt were exceptional, and our teen diner went berserk for the old-school soda fountain with Dublin Dr Pepper and NuGrape. But what’s with the Soup Nazi guy at the front? Seriously. BYOB.

Tex-Mex /
Burgers

(From November 2011)

No longer is it necessary to brave the weekend crowds to enjoy a satisfying breakfast at this popular spot. Now every morning of the week you can secure a seat on the patio and dig into Hunter’s Delight, scrambled eggs smothered in spicy chili; migas with rice and beans; or the classic American Breakfast, two eggs and meat along with from-scratch hash browns and real-thing grilled Texas toast. Burgers and Mexican fare take the field the rest of the day. Beer, wine, & margaritas.

New American /
Burgers

(From May 2011) Some interior remodeling has added bar space and made better use of the back dining room. Otherwise, not much changes at this neighborhood favorite known for its consistently good food. Not inexpensive, though, with an American Kobe beef burger with seared foie gras and truffled pommes frites going for $32. But we’ve got plenty of favorites, including the seared rare tuna, glazed with soy and ginger and served with wasabi mashed potatoes and roasted shiitakes; the big, plump black mussels in a savory curry and coconut milk sauce; and the dense chocolate cake. Bar.
