Eclectic

(From February 2012)

Clean and sleek, Healthy Essentials looks like a trendy spa. Sure, it carries several lines of supplements and vitamins, as well as healthy snacks, but it serves lunch too. We loved the chicken tortilla soup, the ladle full of fresh-tasting chicken, corn, and beans, with just the right kick to the broth. Ditto for the Harvest salad, featuring mixed greens, whole-grain rice, chicken, raisins, and a light vinaigrette. Our favorite was the tomato-and-mozzarella sandwich, dressed up with a tangy pesto. The variety of smoothies, coffees, and teas (and add-ons) will make your head spin.

Pizza /
Eclectic

(From March 2011) This little pizzeria has only one table, but even if you can’t grab a seat, the pies here definitely make a tasty alternative to ho-hum takeout. Try one of their two headliners: lasagne pizza—layers of fresh ground beef, mozzarella, and pasta—or the Mexican-style, with taco meat, refried beans, cheddar, lettuce, green onions, tomatoes, and olives. Hearty and scrumptious, either is perfect for a cold winter night. If pizza isn’t on your agenda, the full menu includes subs, gyros, and even ribs.

Eclectic

(From June 2011)

Created by TTU’s Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management Program, Skyviews impresses with its chefs in the making, luxe red chairs and white linens, and panoramic view. For a reasonable price, sample first-class fare at the lunch buffet. Every dish is exquisitely homemade: the chicken potpie nestled in flaky crust; the smoked brisket with its signature barbecue sauce; and the buttery, plump sautéed mushrooms. The four-course dinners revolve around cultural themes: Latin, Southern, country French, even barbecue for Fourth of July. Beer & wine.
