(From December 2009) Informal enough to be a neighborhood spot but classed up with French tableware and pastel linens, Louise Lamensdorf’s charming venue is just the right home for her ever-changing menu. On a recent visit we had a delicious carrot-cumin soup, followed by savory pan-seared scallops served with savoy cabbage, fingerling potatoes, and a rich caviar beurre blanc. Buttermilk chocolate cake went per-fectly with the house-made cinnamon ice cream. Bar.

(From March 2009) Quiet enough to be considered a “date night” spot, this TCU neighborhood favorite offers the requisite special touches along with a solid Italian menu of salads, pizzas, and pastas. Between an amuse-bouche and a complimentary square of cheesecake for dessert, we sampled the vegetable fettuccine (an altogether pedestrian dish at many places) and discovered a delicious mix of pasta with eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, red bell pepper, mushrooms, and onions. What a pleasant surprise for the noncarnivorous. Beer & wine.

(From January 2009) Stodgy bank lobby becomes sleek Mediterranean restaurant, with white tablecloths and an interesting treatment of outer architectural supporting beams that have now been incorporated into the dining room. We enjoyed the paella—seasoned arborio rice mixed with scallops, mussels, clams, and baby octopus—but raved about the special: halibut atop broccolini alongside pearl onions and a potato purée with corn sauce. A buttery chardonnay paired well with our warm Parker peach tart à la mode. Next time we’re determined to try the tapas in the trendy V Lounge Wine and Martini Bar downstairs. Bar.
