(From June 2012) A hit with locals and vacationers alike, Yummies offers an at-home feel with great food and friendly service. Start the day with freshly brewed coffee and a huge Spanish omelet loaded with chorizo and fresh vegetables. Or take a break from the beach and stop by for lunch; the chicken salad sandwich, chunky with chopped grapes and almonds, reigns supreme. Save room for one of the heavenly chocolate chip cookies.

(From April 2012) A favorite of beachgoers, Blackbeards’ never disappoints. Fried shrimp and fish are staples here, but don’t overlook the burgers; they’re char-grilled, piled high with fresh ingredients, and the perfect ending to a day of sun and surf. Our favorites are the Primo, a half-pounder with gooey melted Swiss and grilled mushrooms, and the Avocado, with generous slices of its namesake. Pair with one of the signature fresh lime margaritas for a true island experience. Bar.

(From November 2011) Decorated like a Mexican hacienda, the Donkey is the place to go for fresh Mexican food on the island. Our favorite dish is taquitos al pastor, chopped pork that has been marinated in pineapple and spices, grilled, and served on corn tortillas topped with fresh onion and cilantro. In the mood for seafood? Try the blackened red snapper topped with ixtapa sauce, a light white-wine cream blend. And because this place is owned by Dirty Al’s, you simply have to sample the famous fried shrimp. Live music on weekends. Bar.

(From November 2011) Located on the bay, with beautiful views of the sunset and the harbor, Sea Ranch has been delighting diners for more than thirty years. The restaurant specializes in wild-caught seafood from around the world, and the fare is quite fresh, in our experience. Start with the king crab cakes, which are served with a spicy chipotle cream sauce, then move on to something like locally caught amberjack, char-grilled and topped with a light lemon caper sauce. Come early, because there can be a long wait for dinner on the weekends. Bar.
