Handsome Convivio blends right in in the Washington Avenue area, with its curved surfaces, glass, and soft lighting. And its Spanish dishes are starting to draw crowds. Our foursome got lucky on our first visit, with a fine pizzetta topped with goat cheese, serrano ham, and romesco sauce; a meat paella for four that was loaded with tender chorizo; perfectly cooked scallops with a saffron crème fraiche; and a trio of Kobe beef sliders. On a second visit, disappointment reared its ugly head in the form of stodgy mashed-potato-and-shrimp croquettes and stringy, barely cooked crabcakes. Brace yourself for some noise. Bar.
