Bring along a friend to help you pass the time in the ever-present waiting line. The length of that line—and the packed parking lot—is testimony to what people will endure to sample some of the best barbecued beef and juicy smoked pork ribs in the city. Might as well have an ice-cold draft beer while you wait. Beer & wine.

Barbecue

(From May 2012)

Tim Love has hit another home run in casual dining. His indoor-outdoor eatery Woodshed recently opened in the TCU-Forest Park area, with piles of wood to keep the stoves, smokers, and heaters stoked and plenty of wine and beer on tap. Crowds come to partake of a variety of meats and sides, lounge under the native trees on the banks of the Trinity River, and be serenaded by live music and birdcall. We dug in to a smoked whitefish dip with house-made tortilla chips, then went for "Today's Animal": succulent chunks of lamb topped with cracklins, ready to pile onto corn tortillas with a fiery hot salsa and queso crumbles. Pork ribs arrives as an irressitable smoky slab yet to be seperated along with some super-seasoned warm potato chips. Servers are very well trained and plentiful. Beer & wine.
