Tap into the popular wave of Mexican-Mexican at La Gloria at the Pearl, with its menu of little bites (and big molten-cheese-filled molcajetes) inspired by the street food of Mexico—in other words,
Mexico from border to beach. While there’s uneven execution on some dishes (our tacos al pastor had the consistency of shoe leather), you’ll generally fare well with divine ceviches (especially the shrimp-only aguachile and the ceviche verde) and one or two sopes de mole, with their thick masa tarts and rich sauce.
