1:00 P.M.--Part I: The first three lectures will allow scholars in the audience to deepen their understanding of the intangible cultural heritage of Korea, both as cultural tradition and artistic creation. 4:15 P.M.--Part II: This lecture will present a historical perspective on Korean tea and the Korean tea ceremony. Four Korean tea masters, dressed in traditional Korean costumes, using priceless Korean china, will demonstrate the tea ceremony, their cultural tradition, followed by a tea tasting. 7:00 P.M.--Part III: This lecture will introduce the Geomungo, the Korean traditional stringed instrument, followed by a Geomungo Sanjo recital, the first North Korean Geomungo music concert performed in the United States. This performance will demonstrate the beauty and significance of this intangible cultural treasure from Korea. This Symposium is free and open to the public.
