Literacy Advance of Houston and Larry Dierker, former Astros pitcher/broadcast/manager jointly host the annual fundraising golf tournament on February 25, 2013. Sports celebrities, tournament sponsors, and Literacy Advance supporters will play golf to benefit the non-profit organization that teaches adults to read and write in English. The Reader Cup - Larry Dierker Celebrity Golf Tournament includes a hot breakfast, a scramble style tournament, followed by a hearty lunch and the chance to win exciting auction items including night on the town packages, gifts specifically for the lady (or man) in your life and some deluxe sports memorabilia. All proceeds support the organization’s free Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language literacy programs and services.
