April 27-28, 10:00-6:00; 10:00-4:00, $25. The second annual opening of the James Surls’ Sculpture Gardens, featuring approximately 30 Surls’ early sculptures and the state winners of the James Surls Sculpture Competition; the opening of the James Stewart’s sculpture gardens (winner of the Texas Landscape Designers’ Residential Gardens of the Year)with outstanding sculptures by Glenna Goodacre,Gary Price, W. Stanley Proctor, Walt Horton, David Pearson, and Jo Saylors, among others; and the opening of the Historic Bartlett House and Heritage Gardens featuring over 50 East Texas professional artists. Dinner Saturday night featuring James Surls talking about his art. $25 in Malakoff Community Center.
