George R.R. Martin, the wildly successful author of the epic high fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire," will make an appearance at Texas A&M University on March 21 and 22, 2013. Martin’s book series is the source material for HBO’s popular "Game of Thrones," which was the first of the "Ice and Fire" books. Martin’s visit is tied to the library’s Deeper Than Swords exhibit, which opens March 22 and runs through the end of 2013. The exhibit will include books, manuscripts and other objects from Martin’s long, winding career in science fiction and fantasy. Martin will preside over a fund-raising dinner and preview of the exhibition on March 21 at 6 p.m. Martin will sign books from 4-6 p.m. on March 22 at Cushing Memorial Library, followed by a lecture at Rudder Auditorium.
