On Thursday, April 18, Dallas Women’s Foundation will host the 35th Annual Maura Women Helping Women Awards at the Omni Dallas Hotel, 555 S Lamar. The award recognizes women who lead the way in improving lives for women and girls. In addition to hosting the longstanding awards tradition for the first time, Dallas Women’s Foundation will present the inaugural Young Leader Award to a woman under the age of 40 whose breakthrough leadership is creating a path of new opportunity for other women to follow. Begun in 1978 by the Women’s Center of Dallas, the awards were most recently hosted by the Women’s Museum. In 1985, they were named the Maura Women Helping Women Awards to honor Maura McNiel, the founding president of the Women’s Center. Among the 189 past Maura honorees are former First Lady Laura Bush, Ebby Halliday Acers, Elaine Agather, Gloria Campos, Lyda Hill and Cynthia B. Nunn. Tickets are $125-$250.
