D2 Architecture, a Dallas-based start-up that specializes in senior living design solutions, has announced David Dillard as president. Dillard is also founder and one of the principals in the new firm, which has grown rapidly since late 2009.  His vision for the new firm has met with strong market acceptance.

"This new firm’s size and structure let’s me stay on the drawing board, which I love, and at the same time guide our team across the kaleidoscopic field of senior living,” said Dillard. “We are a single-location firm for the foreseeable.  As we grow - and I think we will - it will be smart and slow.  If nothing else this economy has taught us all to travel light, stay lean, and pivot quickly."

Dillard has extensive experience in the senior design sector and has previously served at the executive level of two firms with a national reputation in the industry. He was lead architect on a number of highly successful senior living communities in Dallas and around the nation, such as Edgemere in Dallas, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, and The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth, scheduled to open in fall 2011. Some of his more notable local projects also include Prestonwood Court, Caruth Haven Court, Presbyterian Village North, Signature Point, and The Veranda, to name a few.

Dillard was formerly president of CSD Architects and has more than 15 years of experience designing continuing care retirement communities and other forms of housing for seniors. Dillard and his team at D2 sustain a small running portfolio of projects outside the realm of senior living. In recent years that “Portfolio X” has included infill multifamily projects, a fire station, and currently a performing arts center for a private school in north Dallas.

Founded by president and principal David Dillard, D2 Architecture is a Dallas-based design firm that specializes in senior living solutions nationwide. The company embraces and advocates a culture of resident-driven design and dedicates itself to providing creative thought leadership that raises the bar industry wide. Currently operating with a staff of 12, the company is committed to providing highly responsive client service via senior level staff and a flat management structure with a bias for creative design.
