D2 Architecture, a Dallas-based start-up that specializes in senior living design solutions, has named Doug Bissell as a principal in the firm. Bissell brings more than 30 years of experience to his role as the person in charge of overall quality assurance for D2 Architecture.

"I am excited to be an integral part of this growing firm," said Bissell. "I enjoy working with this team. It is diverse and agile as we all have to be in this economy. I also appreciate D2’s focus on senior living and the historical depth of this team’s experience in such a relatively vibrant market."

Bissell has worked for years with David Dillard, president of D2 Architecture.  Prior to D2, they led the Dallas Studio of CSD Architects, D2’s predecessor firm. "Doug was absolutely indispensible as we launched D2,” said Dillard. “Clients followed us from CSD to D2 largely because they knew that Doug would be there."

Consistent with D2 Architecture’s focus on design for senior living, the bulk of Bissell’s experience is on senior communities such as The Stayton at Museum Way, The Buckingham, and Querencia at Barton Creek, to name a few. However his design experience also encompasses office buildings, multifamily housing, healthcare buildings, government buildings, higher education buildings, and hospitality buildings.

Founded by president and principal David Dillard, D2 Architecture is a Dallas-based design firm that specializes in senior living solutions nationwide. The company embraces and advocates a culture of resident-driven design and dedicates itself to providing creative thought leadership that raises the bar industry wide. Currently operating with a staff of 12, the company is committed to providing highly responsive client service via senior level staff and a flat management structure with a bias for creative design.
