Mirador senior living community recently welcomed Linda Armstrong Kelly, author and mother of seven-time Tour De France champion Lance Armstrong. More than 50 people gathered to hear her compelling story of the highs and lows of being a single mother while raising one of the best athletes in the world. After the presentation, she answered questions from the audience and signed copies of her book, “No Mountain High Enough.”
“Linda has such a loving and energetic spirit that is contagious to all who meet her,” said Wendy Gainan, director of sales and marketing at Mirador. “Our guests enjoyed her presentation and it was an honor to have the opportunity to host her.”
Armstrong Kelly told first hand her experience raising Lance while earning her GED and becoming a successful marketing executive. She discussed Lance’s ordeal with cancer, and how that lead to her passion and ongoing philanthropic work for cancer research. A grandmother of 10, she credits her success to working hard and always being willing to go that extra mile.
Now under construction in the heart of south Corpus Christi, Mirador will be the area’s only full service life care senior living community. The $79 million gated community will include approximately 125 customized independent living apartment homes, each with a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and 24-hour emergency response system, as well as 44 private assisted living suites, 41 private rooms for dignified nursing care, and 18 private residences for memory support. Designed to enrich the lives of seniors, Mirador will feature 25,000 square feet of commons areas on a lush 17-acre campus with a premier location close to local restaurants, shops and attractions.
Mirador will be a 501(c)3 not-for-profit senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), a Texas-based nonprofit organization that sponsors sister communities Edgemere in Dallas, The Buckingham in Houston, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, and The Stayton at Museum Way under construction in Fort Worth.
