Edgemere Residents Get

To kick off their 2010 Memory Walk campaign, Edgemere senior living community, along with the Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC) Charitable Foundation, recently hosted residents to an exclusive screening of the award winning movie “Carried Away.”  The red carpet was rolled out in true Hollywood style to welcome “Carried Away” director Tom Huckabee and cast members as well as John Gilchrist, executive director of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  A silent auction was held during the event with all donations contributing to the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.  A champagne reception along with gourmet popcorn and cookies in the shape of academy awards were served to all movie goers.

“Our residents enjoyed being able to interact with the cast and learn more about the movie,” said John Falldine, managing director for Edgemere.  “It was wonderful having representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association there, as Edgemere has developed a wonderful relationship with the organization throughout the years.”

In 2008, SQLC founded the SQLC Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that provides grants to support programs and services that advance the interests of seniors, from Alzheimer’s research to education.

With 304 independent living apartment homes, 60 assisted living suites, 31 memory care private apartments, and 72 private rooms for dignified skilled nursing, Edgemere is the largest and most comprehensive life care senior living community in Dallas.  The community is located in the Preston Hollow/Park Cities area at 8523 Thackery Street at Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225.  The Plaza Health Services at Edgemere located on the same campus at 8502 Edgemere Road at Northwest Highway, offers assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory support services for Edgemere life care residents, as well as for others in the community.

Edgemere is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), a Texas-based nonprofit organization that sponsors sister communities The Buckingham in Houston, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, The Stayton at Museum Way under construction in Fort Worth, and Mirador under construction in Corpus Christi.  For information, visit www.edgemeredallas.com, or call (469) 619-0825.
