Members gathered in the community sanctuary of The Legacy at Willow Bend, Plano’s first and only life care retirement community, to hear a book review of Myron Uhlberg’s personal memoir “Hands of My Father: A Hearing Boy, His Deaf Parents, and the Language of Love,” given by Dallas Morning News freelance writer and former Texas Jewish Post columnist Harriet Gross.
Gross, a highly sought after reviewer, had members of The Legacy intrigued with her opinions and analysis of a touching story of a hearing boy born to deaf parents and his experiences growing up.
“Harriet is not only well-known in the Dallas area as a fabulous book reviewer and writer, but she is heavily involved in the Jewish community as well,” said Bob Weinfeld, book club president and member, The Legacy at Willow Bend. “It was a treat to have her here today, and the members enjoyed her thorough, insightful review.”
