Wii Bowling at The Village at Gleannloch Farms

Picture this dynamic scene…a room full of people, participating in a lively competition while shaking pom-poms and barking out loud in excitement.  That’s exactly what happened at the "Top Dog Wii Tournament" at The Village at Gleannloch Farms.  The seniors battled the younger staff and they won!  The final score was 333 to 216.  More than 50 people attended and everyone had a great time.

Believe it or not, this all started because  94-year-old Dan Morford who is blind in one eye had a clever idea.  Morford loved to bowl in his younger years and as he aged, he was looking for a way to stay active while having fun.  He discovered Wii bowling and introduced it to the other residents.  He never expected so many people would fall in love with the game too.

“Once I got a few people interested, it spread like wildfire,” said Morford.  “It’s like any other game of skill, it adds to your enthusiasm.”

The staff enjoyed the competition and they are not sore losers.

“It’s fun to get together in a playful way.  The residents truly beat us big time and they’re seriously good,” said Mimi Collins, Lifestyles Director at The Village at Gleannloch Farms.

The event is a true bonding experience and it develops a sense of camaraderie for residents and staff alike.  Plus, everyone gets some exercise while keeping their minds sharp.

“It’s not entirely for the score, it’s for the fun of it.  It’s great fun, knocking those pins over,” said Morford.
